Skilled Private Duty Nursing Services
Private duty nursing services refers to individualized nursing care for patients in their own homes or other personal settings outside of a traditional hospital or clinical setting. Unlike standard home care, which involves a few hours of care per day, private duty nursing offers comprehensive, one-on-one care, sometimes around the clock, provided by a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) under the strict clinical guidance of the patient’s physician.
The need for private duty nursing services may evolve from the need for close monitoring and specialized care for complex medical situations including, but not limited to:
Chronic illness
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Clinically complex cases of diabetes

- Prepare and administer medications and injections

- Collaborate with physicians to adjust the plan of care
- Educate patients and their families on management of the patient’s complex medical conditions
- Assist with instrumental activities of daily living associated with the patient’s care like laundry, waste management, and meal prep and clean up
Firstat Nursing Services provides private duty nursing services for patients in all stages of life, including premature infants discharging from the hospital following birth to geriatric patients aging in their home, preserving the highest quality of life. Providing care to Kansas City for over 30 years, Firstat nurses have developed strong relationships with area physicians and have a firm understanding of their protocols, helping to bridge the gap between hospital care in a critical care area and maintaining health in the home. Following the creation of the personalized plan of care, we work with the patient and their family to schedule shifts for a variety of hours, including 8 hour and 12 hour shifts. We will work collaboratively with local hospitals, physicians, and various therapists to ensure the client reaches their optimum health potential.
